The most successful people in anything always give credit to their mentor. Of course, everyone has heard “two heads are better than one”, but having a mentor is much more than that.

No one goes from zero to hero overnight. Most people at the top started at the bottom and made tons of mistakes along the way. Having a mentor helps us to learn from other peoples mistakes.

Finding the right mentor is crucial to success. In today’s internet world, there is so much information blasted all over the place, it can be overwhelming to say the least. It’s not easy to filter through all the noise.

Using a few simple criteria can help.

1. Do they resonate with you? Do you “feel good” about how they communicate and get a “warm and fuzzy” feeling when you listen to their advice. A mentor should be easy to listen to and understand.

2. Do you get the feeling that they really want to help YOU or do they have their own agenda? Great mentors give generously and love helping people.

3. Are they successful and have other followers? With scams around every corner, it’s not always easy to know the truth of someone’s success. If they have tons of regular followers with positive comments, it’s a good indication that they are the real deal.

If you want to be successful, DO what successful people do. Having a mentor will help you to avoid the pitfalls and achieve your dreams.
